Alabama 52 - Auburn 21
The main question going into the Iron Bowl this year was what the final score would be. #1 Alabama has looked like they are in a class all to themselves this season and Saturday's win over 7-5 Auburn was no different. The Tigers fought hard in the first half but missed opportunities quickly piled up as the Tide washed Auburn out in the second half.
Alabama was led through the air by Tua Tagovailoa who may have cemented a Heisman Trophy win with 377 passing yard, 26 rushing yard, and 6 total touchdowns on the day. Damien Harris was the leading rusher for Bama with 41 yards. Jerry Jeudy, Jalen Waddle, and DeVonta Smith all finished with at least 70 yards receiving and a touchdown. On the day, the Alabama defense finished with a combined 82 tackles.
Auburn was led through the air by Jarrett Stidham who finished with 127 yards passing, a touchdown, and an interception. Freshman Jatarvious Whitlow ran for 61 yards to lead the Tigers on the ground. Darius Slayton was the leading receiver with 63 yards. On the day, the Auburn defense finished with a combined 60 tackles.
#1 Alabama will now square off with #4 Georgia for the SEC Championship. This will be a rematch of last year's instant classic National Championship game where a Tua led Alabama team stormed back in the 2nd half to knock off Georgia in overtime. The winner will go to the playoffs, the loser might also. Kick off is at 3pm on CBS.
Auburn will look to finish a disappointing season strong and gain momentum for next year with a bowl win. Most predictions have Auburn going to the Texas Bowl in Houston or to the Belk Bowl in Charlotte.
