Obama Says He Didn’t Pursue Reparations As Pres. Because “White Resistance"

Of course, when Obama was running for President in 2008, he said that he opposed reparation payments, saying that “the best reparations we can provide are good schools in the inner city and jobs for people who are unemployed."

Here he is in 2009 during a primary debate saying he opposes reparations.

Now that the Sheila Jackson-Lee/BlackLivesMatter wing seemingly controls the party, Obama has evolved and says he supports cash payments to blacks.

In his new podcast with Bruce Springsteen, Obama says reparations are "justified" pushing the fallacy that the country was built “on the backs of slaves”.

He says he didn’t pursue reparations during his presidency because of:

“the politics of White resistance and resentment. The talk of 'welfare queens' and the talk of the 'undeserving' poor. And the backlash against affirmative action. All that made the prospect of actually proposing any kind of coherent, meaningful reparations program struck me as, politically, not only a nonstarter but potentially counterproductive."

In other words, he didn't want to expend political capital during his presidency, but now with nothing to lose he's jumping on the reparations bandwagon.

He knows and Democrat leadership know that reparations is a losing battle for them. The only reason it’s brought up every now and then is to pander to blacks. They can claim "we would have given you all fat checks, if not for those racist, white Republicans."
