ICYMI: The Army fired the two-star general who heads U.S. Army Africa https://t.co/mXdQCOxrwy— Stars and Stripes (@starsandstripes) October 14, 2017
The Army is firing a general who sent flirty messages to the wife of a sergeant. Major General Joseph Harrington commanded U.S. Army forces in Africa from his post in Italy until last month. The report of the flirty Facebook messages was first revealed by USA Today. In one of the messages, Harrington calls the soldier's spouse a "hottie." An army spokesman says his removal was "due to a loss of confidence in his ability to command."
The investigation is still ongoing.
